The class that you have all been waiting for. An electroforming Masterclass. An intense 2 days of exploring Electroforming to its full potential. We will constructing and sculpting our forms using a number of materials as well as combining then to create unique pieces.

Electroforming found objects, natural materials such as leaves, sea pods, Insects,

The 2 days will allow you the time to correctly construct your pieces and assemble with precision to maximise the wearability of your items.

Sanding, finishing and polishing and patinas.



Learn how to make your own solutions, resists and troubleshoot any issues you may be having with your existing set up. Whilst this is called a masterclass it is open to those that are beginners.



We will be forming in copper and than demonstrations on electroplating in silver and gold.

SKILL PREREQUISITE

No experience is required. This class is open to all.

ESSENTIAL TECHNIQUES COVERED

* Correct preparation and sealing of botanical/organic items

* Correct coverage of conductive paints

* How to "rig up' your item in preparation for immersion

* How to e'form in copper

* How to elctroplate in Nickel, Silver and Gold

* Overview of all equipment used, different anode and solution use

* OH&S procedures and requirements

GENERAL INFORMATION

*WH&S protocols at SJS require all students to wear CLOSED shoes, and for long hair to be tied back. We recommend glasses are worn instead of contact lenses and the wearing of jewellery be kept to a minimum when working within a studio environment.
