CLASS DESCRIPTION

I love rings, rings of all shapes and sizes, especially large blingy rings to wear for fun and nothing looks better than sitting holding an exquisite looking cocktail that is only surpassed by the gorgeous cocktail ring made by YOU on your hand. Teetotalers will look just as gorgeous with a bejewelled hand holding a fine china teacup. This workshop is a chance to expand on your new found skills from your first metal clay workshop. In a fun, friendly environment you will be guided through new techniques to create your own unique ring. Expanding on your existing metal clay skills we will look at stone setting, hollow construction, correct sizing. It will be a very busy full day. Metal clay is a revolutionary product which comes in a clay form, it can easily be manipulated and following firing, the clay fuses and becomes solid metal.

SKILL PREREQUISITE

Ideally have worked with PMC before, open to all.

* working with the clay and it's special properties.

* rolling, cutting, texturing and forming the clay

* sanding and refining

* Sizing your rings * demonstration on hand firing

* correct polishing and finishing

GENERAL INFORMATION

OH&S protocols at SJS require all students to wear CLOSED IN shoes, long hair should be tied back.  We recommend wearing glasses instead of contact lenses and wearing minimal jewellery when working in a studio environment.
