CLASS DESCRIPTION

Metalwork and stone setting go hand in hand. Bezel setting is the most widely used and traditional way to set stones.   SJS offers a number of classes in stone setting and this particular class focuses on bezel setting cabochon stones in a two day class with Mel Ihnen.

During this project based class, the methods employed to create a setting with a cabochon stone will be traditional metalwork techniques gained in previous classes, such as saw piercing and soldering. Students will refine and hone these skills to achieve precision measurement and fit while creating the mount for their stone and learning how to set it securely.
