An art teacher by trade, Kelly Chapman has been creating and teaching art for over twenty years. Having worked in the UK for a number of years, teaching courses in printmaking, sculpture and mixed media, those courses sparked a real interest in working with tactile materials.
Since returning to Australia, Kelly has continued to teach kids with profound disabilities, assisting students aged four to eighteen in developing their creative and technical skills across multiple disciplines. Working with people who have multi-sensory needs and hearing/vision impairments has further developed Kelly’s awareness and love for tactile materials .
Kelly enjoys working with a range of materials to create works of art, however in recent years, she has focused her creative energy on jewellery making and fibre art. Kelly’s unique jewellery designs celebrate the tactile qualities of polymer clay, combined with fibre-based elements. You can view more of Kelly’s work in her Etsy store and Instagram page @kelaoke
