Our Teachers

May Bartrum

May Bartrum May Bartrum is a resident of Ipswich, Queensland. She regularly travels to Sydney where we are lucky to have her teach with us at Sydney Jewellery School

May writes:

I have had a passion for working with metals and glass since the 1960s and began teaching in High Schools in 1975. Since that time my practice has lead me through copper, brass and silver for jewellery and on to leadlight and copper foil. Beadwork and glass slumping to make cabochons for jewellery has inspired me to work with Precious Metal Clay and the new Bronze and Copper Clays in conjunction with traditional metal working skills.
Presently, I am pursuing a career in teaching mixed media jewellery making workshops, including beading, glass, metal, wire and metal clays. I have been certified as a Senior Teacher in PMC and I am joint Secretary of the PMC Guild AU/NZ.

I plan to begin the process of working towards the Master’s Registry as well as continuing to exhibit and publish tutorials.
May Bartrum teaches the following classes:
