CLASS DESCRIPTION

In Anke's “Graffiti” one day workshop you will see polymer clay being used in a new and original way. Anke spend most of her adult life living in Berlin, Germany. And you can definitely find a strong influence of the secret capital of graffiti in her work and style. This project is a young, fresh and urban take of working with polymer clay, that will surely make a lasting colorful impression. Anke shows you how to make a bold show-stopping bangle complete with graffiti-inspired letters featuring colorful canes that look like they were just tagged with a few cans of spray paint. Anke's technique produces results that are amazingly life-like – and 100% legal! Learn in this project workshop how to make a bracelet with the colorful shape and flair of graffiti-style writing. It's so much fun to make and the variations are limitless.You will learn lots of techniques including how to make: · your own graffiti letter stencils · a cane that imitates the look of spray paint · polymer clay letters and how to add them to your bracelet base · a colorful bracelet base to complement your design · additional graffiti elements with markers Anke guides you through her design process and encourages you to pursue your own style providing many tips and ideas throughout. Imagine all the ways you can personalize this bracelet! Using different colors or letters and symbol shapes can change the look and feel of your bracelet completely! Anke will also demonstrate a number of other ideas how to use your newly learned skills. You will have all the knowledge to make matching pendants, earrings or brooches. All of the techniques lend themselves to experiment and try out new pieces. Endless possibilities are waiting for you to try out!

GENERAL INFORMATION

OH&S protocols at SJS require ALL students to wear CLOSED IN shoes and to have long hair tied back. We recommend that glasses are worn instead of contact lenses and minimal jewellery is worn in a studio environment.
