CLASS DESCRIPTION

Metalwork and stone setting go hand in hand, what we often miss is the options that are open to us when setting a stone. Whilst bezel setting is the traditional way, there are many more options. SJS offers two stone setting workshops, covering 5 techniques. In this first class, Stone Setting #1, conducted over 2 consecutive Sunday's, you will be guided through the techniques required for the fabrication of 3 different styles of stone setting:

* Bezel Setting

* Tab Setting

* Prong Setting

During this project based class, the methods employed to create a setting with a cabochon stone will be traditional metalwork techniques gained in previous classes, such as saw piercing and soldering. Students will refine and hone these skills to achieve precision measurement and fit while creating the mount for their stone and learning how to set it securely.

"Learning to set stones was my ultimate goal so I did your 101 metalwork class to get to what I really wanted to do. I understnd fully now how all that practice has helped me to achieve my goal. I just love it. Thanks a million for helping" Rhyda Campo
